New York Musicians Perform in Basel’s “Konzert-Galerie Pianofort’ino”
Soprano Amanda Sidebottom and lutenist Erik Ryding formed Well-Tuned Words in 2011 to explore the rich repertoire of Renaissance and early Baroque lute songs. Based in New York, they have also performed fringe concerts at the Berkeley and Boston Early Music festivals and toured in Europe, with concerts in Milan (Sforza Castle), Paris and Amsterdam. Recent recitals have featured collaborations with harpsichordist Rebecca Pechefsky and the ensemble Brooklyn Baroque.
This trio of musicians will appear on Friday, October 18, at 8 pm in the “Konzert-Galerie Pianofort’ino” (Gasstrasse 48, Hinterhof) with a programme of songs and instrumental pieces by John Dowland (1563–1626) and harpsichord works by Bach’s pupil Johann Ludwig Krebs (1713-1780). Both composers celebrate anniversaries this year.
The concerts in Pianofort’ino are organized by the American musician Sally Fortino, whose collection of historical keyboard instruments is at the heart of the programming.
