John Armleder in conversation with Hans Ulrich Obrist on Thursday, June, 19 at 5.30pm
Celebrated artist John Armleder will speak with Hans Ulrich Obrist about his work. John Armleder (*1948 in Geneva) is one of the most important and influential artists on the international art scene. For more than four decades the artist has created a unique and diverse universe of works including installations, appropriated ready-made sculptures, geometrical pattern and abstract “pour”-paintings. Armleder’s art refers to and redefines how we look at different movements of modern and contemporary art as well as popular culture and design. The Talk is to be held in English and is included in the museum admission ticket.
Peter Doig in conversation with the curator of the exhibition Ulf Küster on Friday, June, 20 at 5pm
The British painter, who lives in Trinidad, London and New York, is one of the world’s leading contemporary artists. His atmospherically dense and at times unsettling works are often based on found or private pictorial material that he weaves in a kind of sampling into dreamlike pictures full of melancholy and mystery. The Talk is a prologue to the extensive exhibition featuring many of his major works that will be held at the Fondation Beyeler this autumn (23 November 2014 – 22 March 2015). It is to be held in English and is included in the museum admission ticket.
